My stay at this ryokan was a bit of a mixed bag. On one hand, the hot spring baths were fantastic for relaxation, and the owner was very accommodating with meals. However, the check-in process was frustrating, with no one available when I arrived, and the walk to the nearest bus station felt a bit too far. The rooms were clean, but not very spacious. Overall, it's an alright place if you're after a traditional experience, but not without its hiccups.

Rooms

The rooms were clean and followed a traditional Japanese style, but they were smaller than I expected.
Service

The service was somewhat hands-off, and it felt like I had to navigate a lot on my own, especially with the check-in situation.
Location

While it was close to the morning market, getting to the bus station felt like a trek, which could be inconvenient.

Breakfast was decent, but not very varied, and there were no meal options available when I needed them.

The hot spring baths were a highlight and a great way to unwind after a day out.

The ryokan is a lovely place to stay, situated right by the river and close to the festival floats hall. I enjoyed the beautiful views and the availability of free bikes for easy exploration. However, my experience was marred by poor communication regarding check-in and some issues with staff presence, which made things a bit frustrating during my stay.

Rooms

The rooms were spacious, clean, and had a traditional futon to sleep on. The rice-filled pillows were a unique touch, making it a comfortable stay.
Service

The owner was very kind and prepared delicious meals upon request, but the overall service felt lacking, especially with the check-in process and unresponsiveness.
Location

The location was great, right on the river which made everything accessible, and only a short bike ride away from key sights in town.
Dining

Breakfast and dinner prepared by the owner were delicious and very traditionally Japanese, which I really appreciated.

The hot spring baths were perfect for unwinding after a long day, though the communal bathrooms could have been better maintained.

My stay at this ryokan had its ups and downs. While the rooms were spacious and the hot spring baths were a nice touch, the check-in process was confusing and the lack of staff availability was frustrating. The location near the river was convenient for exploring, and the free bike rental was a highlight, but unfortunately, the bikes were not in good shape. Overall, it was an interesting experience with some great moments, yet also some clear room for improvement.

Rooms
8.0
The rooms were spacious and clean, ideal for a short stay. The traditional futon setup and the inclusion of hot springs made for a comfortable experience.
Service
5.0
The service left much to be desired, as I struggled to find anyone available during check-in and check-out times. The host was friendly when present but not very helpful with directions or information about the facilities.
Location
9.0
The location was great, right beside the river and close to various attractions, which made it easy to explore the area on foot or by bike.
Dining
7.0
I didn't try the meals offered this time, but breakfast was available upon request and sounded traditionally Japanese. It would be nice to experience that on a future visit.
Facilities
6.0
The ryokan offered some nice facilities, including separate hot spring baths for men and women and free bike rentals. However, the bikes needed maintenance, which detracted from that experience.

I had a mixed experience at this ryokan. On one hand, the location is quite decent, close to the morning market and easily accessible by bike. The owner is nice and the hot spring baths were a great way to unwind after a day of exploring. On the downside, I encountered some frustrating issues with the service, including a confusing check-in process and a lack of assistance when checking out early. Overall, there's potential here, but it could definitely use some improvements.

My stay at this ryokan was somewhat mixed. The location is quite good, providing easy access to the town and attractions. However, the small rooms and shared bathrooms were less comfortable than I expected. I did enjoy the hot baths and the peaceful setting with koi in the pond, but there were some issues with cleanliness and maintenance that I found disappointing.

Rooms
6.0
The rooms were clean and took on a traditional Japanese style, but they felt a bit cramped, especially since our room was right next to the toilet. It was a bit disruptive at times.
Service
7.0
The owner's service was a bit hands-off, with little greeting upon arrival. However, I appreciated that he gave us a ride to the train station when we needed it.
Location

The location was great for exploring the area, alongside the river and close to various attractions. It was easy to walk around and discover the old township.
Dining

I found the breakfast to be simple yet quite tasty, sticking to traditional Japanese selection. However, it could use a bit more variety.
Facilities

The hot spring baths were a highlight, providing a lovely way to relax after a day out. However, the free bikes could use some maintenance; both of the ones we tried had flat tires.
